Favorite Lads to Leaders Event

My favorite Lads to Leaders event is speech. Speech is my favorite event at Lads to Leaders because I love being able to influence and teach someone else. Being my age people don't and won't let you do. Participating in speech might be a little scary to some of you but just think what if the one time you gathered up the courage and did speech is the one time somebody actually decided to listen to somebody about the Bible. Then if that same person got baptized because of the speech you gave affected them so much. That would be an amazing thing. So maybe this will hopefully make you think when you start over exaggerating about doing a speech.

Lads To Leaders Events

There is so many events to participate in at Lads To Leaders from speeches to second language. No matter how old you are there is a event for everybody. Some people think that just because they don't like to talk in front of people then they cant do anything but that is not true. If you don't want to talk you can do an art or something else.

To Work Till Jesus Comes

What does it mean to work till Jesus comes? To me this means that as Christians we are constantly working hard to teach others. On April 27, 2011 a powerful tornado hit the area where I live and where I am sure many of you live as well. It was a horrific day for sure! Many people at my congregation lost their homes, family, and friends. But that does not mean that other people didn't die on that sad day. After the storm people from all over came to help as the church I attend became a relief center for those who lost everything in the storm. That is when I really realized what it means to work till Jesus comes. People of all ages were there to help. Our elderly helped by answering phones and filling out forms. Our little kids helped by straighting shelves and helping people fill their containers. Then there was our men who unloaded all that heavy stuff off of the trucks. So you see no matter how old you are you can always find some way to help someone.

When Things Get Rough Keep On Going

Recently my great grandmother passed away on 12-31-11. She was a wonderful Christian woman who touched so many. When she passed away it felt like everything that was happening wasn't real and what was the point of going on with our lives. The thing is when things happen in life we shouldn't run from God but turn to him for the strength to move on. God won't put more on us than we can handle and we need to remember that when stuff goes wrong in our lives. If it wasn't for knowing that God and my church family was here with me and my family I don't know what I would have done, and you have people here for you too. So the next time something goes wrong in your life please do me a favor just don't give up. Keep on going and God will help you through it.

Group Banner

Well this year is the first time my church group is doing group banner in like two years. We started it today and I am super excited. We had so much fun working on it today and it is such a learning experience. It teaches us how to work together and to be patient. Which for some people it might not be easy to do but you can always learn. Group banner allows us time to be with our Christian family and not have to worry about outside things.

Being a Christin Example

As Christians we are always taught that we should always be a good example for others to follow. Most people think well why should I? Who was ever an example for me. But we shouldn't have that attitude! The Bible says" let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father in Heaven". No matter how old you are there is always people around you that you can shine your light on. When you're my age or at least around it you are constantly around people whether it's at school or sports or even church functions there is always someone that needs to hear the word of God.

Teaching Others

With us being Christians we should constantly teach other people every time we get a chance. When we are young some people think that us kids can't do anything but that's not true! We have so many chances to teach others while we are young but not everybody takes advantage of those chances to try to talk to other people about God. We see people at school, church activities, camps, sport activities and other places. But how many times do we actually take out the time to talk to somebody about the Bible? Yeah most people might turn you down or walk away who knows they might even start stuff about you. Just think though what if there is that one person who you were too worried was going to make fun of or turn you down that never got the chance to learn about God just because you didn't talk to them!? Would you be able to live with yourself if you knew that you were the last person that had an impact on somebodies life before they died and you didn't say anything????

Choosing a Song

Well it's time to start picking a song. This is never easy for me because I love so many of them. The sad part about it is that we can only choose one. This year alot has happened and it has made me think really hard here lately. I have chosen to do the song No Tears In Heaven. I am dedicating it to my Uncle Jimmy who passed away on 9-11-11 and I was very close to him. Then with the April 27th tornado that caused so much destruction that had hurt so many. The song No Tears In Heaven reminds me that even though there is so much pain and sorrow down here on Earth, one day we will all hopefully get to go to Heaven where there will be no tears at all.

Family Seminar

Well we just had our kickoff for Lads to Leaders on October 2, 2011. This year of Lads to Leaders is going to be great. There is so many different things you can chose from. I personally am doing seventeen things and I really need to start. It will be time for us to get packed, get in our cars, and be on our way to Nashville, Tennessee in no time at all.

Walkfest

Well the walkathon was this past weekend and there was a great turnout. There was a good amount of people there. We walked three miles from the community center to the camp. It took me and two little kids that were walking with me a little over an hour to get there. Please remember just because we are not doing the walkathon right now to get up money to go to camp that we all still need to donate money to the camp when we can.

Ladies Day

There will be a Ladies Day at Sylvan Springs Church of Christ. It will be on September 24, 2011 starting at 9:00 a.m. There will be a guest speaker, great singing, and more. Please come and bring friends and family no matter how old you are. It will be a great opportunity for everyone and it will be something that everybody will enjoy. Some of the ladies from my church have been working really hard to put this years Ladies Day together. A few of our youth and ladies will be leading songs, doing prayers, reading scriptures and more. Please spend just a couple of your hours with us that Saturday I can promise you it will be well worth it and you won't regret it.

Hey, sorry it has been a week or so since I have written on here. I've been trying to get all my Lads to Leaders stuff done. I have just finished my scrapbook ten minutes ago and now I still have to study my speech, practice my song, and pack. I usually am done with all my stuff by now but I just got back from a school trip too so that didn't help much. Well it's on countdown until Lads to Leaders. I am so excited. There is one day until the trip. I think everybody that I know is going i am so ready. Oh and by the way I have some exciting news! Mary Courington gets to come home! Getting Better

Yay it's so exciting to hear that Mary Couringon has gotten a liver and is doing great. I just want to let you know that all the prayers have been greatly appreciated. We all love the Courington family very much and I know we are all happy for them. I hope Mary gets to come home soon because I miss her alot and it doesn't seem right with out her around at all the church events. Please keep praying for her and her family hoping that she will continue to ge better. We all love and know Mary Courington alot and we all know that she is going through alot right now. Please pray for her and her family. For those of you who don't know Mary is vey sick. she is rejecting her liver and she needs a new one as soon as possible! The doctors here gave up on her so they took her to Louisana to try to make her better. I really wish there was something I could do instead of just praying because I don't feel like I'm doing enough. If I could I would give her a part of my liver. Mary is like my second mom and she means alot to me. She has been around me my whole life. She is at the top of the liver transplant list. So maybe she will get one as soon as possible! Please keep Mary and her family in your prayers! It will be greatly apperciated. Mrs. Mary if your reading this I just want you to know that we all love and miss you and we want you to get well soon!

Getting A Pitch Pipe

I'm so excited! I just got my first pitch pipe for Lads to Leaders and I can't wait to use it. With it being my first pitch pipe I'm not used to it and I don't quite get how it works but I will get there. I have wanted a pitch pipe for awhile but I could never find one. I have seen how it has helped other people do a song so I am pretty sure it can help me too!

Group Scrapbook

We have been working on our group scrapbook for a few weeks now and it is coming along nicely. We have all been working really hard and we hope you enjoy looking at it. Even though we have been working on it we still have a lot to do. We can't wait till you see it. Doing group scrapbook gives us the opportunity to hang out and spend time with all the other people in our youth group. Last year we got second place we are hoping that this year we will win first place. Who knows maybe we will. Wish us luck! Picking Out The Right Song

Well I have finally picked out my song. It was a long process with so many different wonderful songs to chose from. The song I picked out is page 166 He's My King. I hope that everyone enjoys the song that I have picked out to do for Lads to Leaders this year. It is very hard to chose just the right song. This song is one of my favorite songs to sing. The reason it is hard for me to chose the right song is because I am either always going to fast or dragging the song to slow. Maybe I can get this one just right. I guess that's why being in the band should help me learn how to read music. I hope you will be able to pick a song out easier than I was able to

Getting Closer

It's getting closer until convention and I can't wait. There is still so much to do. We have three and a half months till it's time to go. When I tell all my friends at school that I'm going to Nashville,Tennessee for Lads to Leaders they always ask what is Lads to Leaders. It's always fun to explain to them what it is because I get to tell them about everything I get to do. I'm so excited about going. I hope everybody enjoys all the events I have participated in just as much as I do and all the other events also. I also hope yall enjoy looking at my scrapbook, poster, photos, and listening to my speech and song. I think this is going to be my favorite year participating in Lads to Leaders.

I finally got my speech. So I know time is getting near. It is never too early to prepare for Lads to Leaders it is right around the corner. I can't wait till I can say my speech out loud for everyone. I think this is going to be the best speech and year yet. But then i always say that. But i do think every year gets better and better. Our Trip to Exposure

We just got back from Exposure and it was so much fun. There was so much to do like spiritual challenges, worship, singing, team mixers, alot of fellowship, and more. Spiritual challenges is different classes and different speakers that you can go to. Team mixers is when you are split up into different groups that way you can meet people you don't know, learn more about God, sing, and we even play games to learn more about the other people in the group. This year two people I know Daniel Courington and Steven Vincent got hypnotized. The way they acted was so funny. I love Exposure so much. I'm already counting down the days till next year. I hope I see you again next year.

Exposure 2010

Exposure is coming up next month and I'm so excited. I love going to Exposure so much because when you go to Exposure you meet new people, sing songs, learn more about God. My favorite part about Exposure is learing more about God and singing the amazing songs I have never heard before. You should come to Exposure this year. You will have so much fun! Area Wide Youth Devo

We just had our Area Wide Youth Devo at our church. It was great we had so many teens there it is just so amazing to see so many christians in one place even away from Lads to Leaders. You know we go to school and do all kinds of other events outside of the church and its a great inspiration to be involved in events that is all church related. I wish there were more things that we could do that involves the teens and church.

Gospel Meeting

We just finished up our gospel meeting at chuch it was great. We had so many different speakes, we actually had Roy Johnson the man over Lads to Leaders. I was so excited to actually meet him. I bet I talked his ears off about how excited I am for this years convention. All of the speakers we had were great! He was just the icing on the cake.

Ladies Day

We just had Ladies Day at church and it was a big success. There were so many people there and everyting went great. I got to do a song and Bible reading in front of everybody it was really fun and a great way for me to get ready for Lads to Leaders. Our ladies did great. Even the little kids that are around four years old did something in front of everybody. They were so cute.

KICK OFF

Well the adults had their kick off last night on getting us started on our Lads to Leaders events. I can't wait I am so excited not only do i get to prepare for my favorite thing to do i also celebrate my 13th bday today. Yea. I have already been working on my good samaritans and had a busy summer. I went to Indian Creek Youth Camp two weeks i have also been to SEC, Youth Devos and getting ready for Rush at Freedhardmen college in Tennessee this coming up weekend. There are so many different events that we as youth can particpate in to stay involved with learning about the Bible and whats right all we have to do is go and do those things.

It's almost time for Lads to Leaders and I am half way through. I just finished scrapbook tonight if you have a chance at convention please take a look at it. I love doing this so much and I hope you do also. I have still several things to do like finish learning my speech, do my poster, practice my song, finish packing. I'm counting the days down until Lads to Leaders. There is 1o more days to go can you believe it I sure can't . It seems we just did the convention for 2009. I hope I see you all up there even if I don't know you. The other great news is that Addi Kelsey was at church tonight after not being there for a long time because of her headaches. She is still in pain so please still keep her in your prayers. Who knows she might get to do Lads to Leaders after all. I sure hope so. 3 Weeks Away

Three weeks until convention and I am only half away through with all my stuff. I wish all of you good luck in everything your doing. I'm getting more excited each day. I don't know about you but I love doing Lads to Leaders because I enjoy being able to compete against other Christians my age. I'm going to hate it when I graduate from high school and not be able to compete and do things in Lads to Leaders but judge and continue to tell others about Christ. Even after we graduate that's not any excuse to quit doing things with our churches just because we are college kids. We always need to be good examples to those around us no matter what our age is. We always have people watching us everywhere we go so were always influencing others in one way or another even if we don't know it. Who knows we might even get someone to become a christian or to go back to church who hasn't gone in a very long time. That's one of the good things about Lads to Leaders we are always around christian people everywhere we turn. I love doing Lads to Leaders and I hope you do to. Good luck finishing anything you are still working on and I hope to see you there. Please keep praying for Addi and the doctors that maybe they will find out what is causing her illness and be able to cure it.

Time is Close

Well time is getting closer, I am half way done with scrapbook. I love working on it. I have my speech and I am learning it. We have six weeks to go. I can't wait. I look so forward to going to Lads to Leaders convention. I wish more churches would get involved in it. Its just a way for the young people to involve themselves in the Lord's work and to show that age is just a number that we can teach and learn as much as we can. We are very lucky to have the members of the church and Lads to Leaders to encourage us and help us any way possible. Addi is a girl who has been really sick. I wanted to write about her because she is such a very sweet, loving person and I love her so much. Maybe if she reads this it will make her smile. I just got started with scrapbook. It's always so much but it's alot of hard work. You don't have to be creative or anything like that. If you don't do scrapbook you should. I did two and a half sections today. It's a good way to keep up with events that goes on from year to year and it's better than a photo album. I hope everyone enjoys looking at my scrapbook.

Web Page is a wonderful way to teach others about God with a way of technalogy that's used today. It is a way for me to share with you the different gatherings that our congregation and youth do together to learn and teach about God. I love sharing my experiences with others and this is a way for me to do that. I love my church family. They are always there for us and encourages us to do many Godly things. I am so grateful to have them!!!!!!!

Survivor Retreat

Survivor Retreat is an event that our church members do. We select a weekend and go to Indian Creek Youth Camp to spend time together. We take the theme for Lads to Leaders and we study it. Our weekend at camp is based on what we studied for convention and we do different activities and games. It's a way for us to get together as a group and study, learn, and enjoy spending time together.

Speech

I finally got my speech for Lads to Leaders. I can't wait for everyone to hear it. I am getting so excited. Speech is one of my favorite events. There is not alot of people doing speech this year. I wish more would do it. It's a great opportunity for us to show others that we can teach people the word of God even at our age. We can be great examples to others young or old.

My Trip To Exposure

Exposure Youth Camp is super fun . When you go to exposure you get to learn tons about God. You know we get exposed to worldly things during school, sports, friends and other activities and when we go to exposure we get exposed to the Bible, it gives us the opportunity to be with other Christians. At exposure you also get put into teams with other people you don't know but even if it does sound scary to meet people you don't know it's really fun and you are also always around other Christians and you will make alot of friends. If you didn't get to go this year just ask about it. It will be on December 27th Thur Dec 30th for 2010 one of the best parts is that you get to learn more about God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ. It's Time!

The time is here for us to start Lads to Leaders again and I am so excited about it. There is alot of stuff you can do from speech,song of praise, web page of course, and everything else I can get involved in. So many people don't even know what Lads to Leaders is so they don't get the chance to experience it so we are very lucky to get the chance to do it and we should take advantage of that opportunity. Alot of people might think that Lads to Leaders comes to quickly but I don't think it comes quick enough and it is one of the highlights that I look forward to every year. The best part of it all is being around other Christians and learning alot more.

The Time is Here

Tomorrow is the big day we load our cars and head to Nashville for the big convention. I am so excited I can't wait. We will load up all of the things we have done for the convention. I hope everyone enjoys the things we have done and the things we are going to do at convention as much as we did doing them. Lads to Leaders

Lads to Leaders is about you learning how to be a good and better christian. It's also a good way for us to learn how to be good song leaders, preachers, class room teachers and more. If you do Lads to Leaders you can get involved in a lot of stuff like speech, song leading or song of praise, web page, good samaritian, scrapbook, and tons of other events. If you want to this just talk to your elders about it you can even go on their web site. You'll have tons of fun and enjoy all the stuff you do. Finally it also lets you be in a church environment and out of the worldly one.

Black and White Photo

Taking a picture for the Black and White Photo might be a challenge but it is fun because you get to take the picture yourself. Sometimes coming up with an idea that pertains to the theme can be very hard. Its amazing to see all the different ideas that other people can come up with for the Lads to Leaders convention.

Parade Of Winners

Parade of Winners is when you read the either the Old or New Testament Bible all the way through before you go to Lads to Leaders. You have the choice to read either one or both. But I try to read one during one year and the other the next. Its fun to do Parade of Winners because it is good to read the Bible and learn more about Gods word. It has lots of different stories.

Getting Done

I just got done doing Centurion Of Scriptures and was happy of succeding it. So if you ever decide that you want a challenge then you need to do this. It took me about a year to finish mine and it was hard for sure, but it's a way for me to learn more about God and I can use it to teach others. So if you are wanting a challenge you need to be up for it. It's a way to study the Bible.

Good Samaritian

Good Samaritian is a way of doing things for the sick, elderly and shut in. Doing good samaritians I can make cards, visit and call them. I love doing good samaritians cause it gives me a way to show my light and to inspire others to do things for others. I love it when I can make someone smile by doing good deeds for them by a simple hello and miss you. Everyone should try to do something for others. I encourage everyone to visit someone that you haven't seen or talked to just to let them know that they are not forgotten.

Scrapbook

This is my third year doing it. I like it so much that I think everbody should do it, because it's a great way to make memories that you can keep forever. Last year my scrapbook was so big and thick that the lady we turned them into thought it was a winner circle scrapbook but it wasn't. I also got third place maybe I 'll get first this year if I don't I don't even care because it's so much fun.

This is my first year doing article editoral. I really enjoyed doing it. I based the people in it from people at church. And I liked it a lot. If you get to read it than I really hope you enjoy it. I have done alot more stuff this year that are new and I have really enjoyed all the events that i have done over the summer. Now it's time to get ready for convention by studying speech, song leading and doing my Art Says It.

Carrying the Banner

I was chosen to carry our banner for convention last Sunday night. It was Paul and Kim Kelsey who choose me and Brianna to carry it. I was shocked , because when he was announcing it he said that these two always come to everything and are always on time. The funny part is that , earlier he said that he appreicated us coming to everything and being on time so I had a feeling that he would choose Brianna but I was still worried about the second person. So I had my fingers , toes , legs , and arms crossed and I got it.

Mass Media Audio

I just got done recording my mass media audio. Here is what it was. If you ordered a hamburger and found out that it was 60% beef,would you be excited about eating it? 100% is the best and most people would not be satisfied with anything less. In Joshua 1: 16, the Israelites were ready to give 100%. They were ready to give God their all. How about you?

Centurion of Scriptures

This is my fifth year doing centurion of scriptures. It is diffcult because you have to memorize ten or fifty fifty or all hunderd all together. I have twenty left to memorize and say to Joseph Glenn at church. I have got some advice for you if you do centurion of scriptures you start early so you can get finished way before Lads to Leaders.

Exposure Youth Camp

I just got back from Youth Exposure it was in Hunstsville Alabama. It was my first experience in going to Youth Exposure we were gone for three days. It is a way for the youth to get together from all over the state and farther to gather together and learn more about God with others our age. We had all kinds of worship, and classes.When we got into team mixers we were only with one person from our congergation. That was just one of the ways we met other people. If you have never been to Exposer than you should come. I look forward to going next year.

Baptism

I was baptised on November 17 2008. I was on a bus when I asked Mark Wylie to baptise me. I thought it was going to only be my mom my nanny and him,but instead it was thirty-one people there. You might think the water was cold but it was warm. Also I never knew there was so many people who supported me. I know my church family loves me as much as my real family does! I am also real lucky to have them in my life. They are great examples in my life.

My Favorite Event is Speech.

My favorite event is speech because I get to memorize it and learn more about God. It's also another way for me to teach others.

Today we worked on group webpage. It's way different from mine well for one thing it's dark blue and mine is green but kind of darker .Then there's me working on mine by myself and there's everybody working on the group one. Today there was only three of us at church. Maybe there will be more next time.
